Celebrating Women Entrepreneurs: Jessica Glenn

Jessica Glenn’s journey into owning a business happened unexpectedly—a spa was offered for sale, and within a week, she owned it.

“I’ve always enjoyed receiving spa treatments, so I thought owning one would be fun, but more importantly, I wanted to create a space where women could feel confident and good about themselves,” said Glenn, owner of Bare Sugar Salon & Med Spa, 124 N Delaware Ave. “Over the past 7 ½ years, I’ve worked hard to grow and expand our services, bringing offerings to our community that aren’t usually found in small towns, like float therapy ad medical aesthetics.”

While Glenn recognizes that being a woman-owned business can come with challenges, like not always being taken seriously, she believes many of the hurdles she has faced aren’t specific to gender.

“My advice to other women starting a business is to do your research, focus on what you want, and avoid worrying about what everyone else is doing,” she said. “Ultimately, my goal is to make our spa feel comfortable and receive quality services, then we’re successful. I’m incredibly proud of my amazing team and, of course, our incredible clientele, who I think are the best!”
