A major milestone came in 1994, when four longstanding institutions—Citizens National Bank (Charles City), Citizens National Bank (New Hampton), Osage Farmers National Bank, and First National Bank (Clarion)—merged to form a single organization under the First Citizens Bank name, with headquarters established in Mason City. In 2014, the bank expanded its reach with the addition of Kanabec State Bank in Mora, Minnesota.
