Brown, Kinsey, Funkhouser & Lander, P.L.C. has proudly served the Mason City community for more than 70 years, building a legacy rooted in experience, integrity, and continuity.
The firm was founded in 1951 by James Brown, Howard Dresser, and Robert Kinsey as Brown, Dresser & Kinsey. Over the decades, the firm has grown through the addition of talented attorneys, including David Funkhouser in 1968, Robert “Chip” Kinsey III in the early 1970s, and Scott Brown in 1982—each contributing to a strong tradition of trusted legal service.
In 1995, John Lander joined the firm, bringing a focus on transactional law and helping guide the firm into its next chapter. The firm’s name was updated in 2004 to reflect its evolving leadership and continued growth.
Today, that tradition carries forward with the next generation. In 2025, Jack Lander joined the firm following his graduation from Drake Law School, focusing his practice on litigation.
