Celebrating Women Entrepreneurs: Kallie Campbell

Last Updated 10/28/2024Posted in News & Resources, Women Entrepreneurs

Kallie Campbell’s journey of being an entrepreneur has taught her that learning as you go is a natural part of the process and oftentimes not easy. Charting un-navigated territory always comes with challenges, she said.

“Right when you think you’ve figured it out, a new challenge presents itself, and it’s a never-ending annoying—yet beautiful—cycle,” said Campbell, owner of Pottery on the Plaza at 14 S. Federal Ave., a paint-your-own pottery shop that also brings in other local businesses for pop-ups. "Reminding yourself that you are doing your best, life is funny, and everything can be figured out helps navigate the challenges as they come.”

While the original vision of Pottery on the Plaza was not hers, it’s been a fun and creative space to which she’s been able to bring her own personal twist.

“I’ve spent most of my life daydreaming, so having a plan in motion inspires me,” she said. Pottery on the Plaza has hosted girls’ nights, birthday parties, team building, date nights and simple solo visits to escape the world for a while.

“Our wish is that you walk away with a smile on your face,” Campbell said. “With the goal of bringing a little bit of joy to the whole community.”

Campbell also thinks it’s important to educate yourself and to let your mind take you to the wildest of places, she said. “Overwhelm yourself in ideas, and then slowly start taking the steps to make them happen. Dream big. Work small. See where it takes you. You may give up on things or change your mind a million times--fail AND succeed--but every day and every idea will lead you where you need to be. It’s never easy, and there are always obstacles, but it all comes with wisdom. Don’t let the unknown scare you. Lead with passion and live in your daydream… and then never stop.”
