As COVID-19 brought our lives to a screeching halt this spring, it’s exciting to see sparks of leisure interest in the community. While continuing to keep our distance from overly large crowds of people, many feel the urge to get out and do things again. To live life and enjoy events and activities.
What a perfect opportunity for just that with the upcoming Haunted Building Tour!
The spirits haunting the halls of these buildings get very chatty this time of year. In fact, their sole purpose in the afterlife is haunting these structures, waiting for the chance to tell their story. To make sure each and every resident of Mason City knows what happened in these parts all those years ago.
Who lived in these buildings? What went on here to make these spirits stay? Why haven’t they gone toward the light?
You and your friends can find answers to all these questions, and more, on the Haunted Building Tour. This event, the first put on by Main Street Mason City since our lives were turned upside-down by the infestation of those nasty Corona germs, will take place on Friday, October 23rd. Patrons will meet at The Main Event to prepare for the scare by snacking safely on some delicious bits and bobs, as well as enjoy a plethora of cold drinks before embarking on an unknown tour of Spooktacular proportions. They will then be split into small groups (Hooray for social distancing!) to be catapulted back in time for an eerie journey of epic historical events.
You will hear the intricate fables from the spirits themselves. Cast in a dim glow, these sinister souls will weave a tale about the history of each building, transporting you back to a time when life was simpler.
Or so you may think. Be sure not to let your guard down and have too much fun, these spooky spirits are always looking to add to their posse of ghosts!
Regardless, each have come to downtown Mason City to share their story. They are stuck haunting their respective buildings, and willing to show themselves for one night only.
Guaranteed to get you in the Halloween mood, the award-winning Haunted Building Tour is definitely not one you want to miss. You will be awed by the rich history on each stop on the tour, mesmerized as details emerge about times of old in Mason City, and scared just a bit as the spirits revel in their fascination with their own deaths. Which, as the stories unfold, you’ll find these ghouls often died unfortunate, tragic deaths.
Maybe that is why they haven’t gone toward the light?
Either way, there’s no need to social distance from the spirits that haunt the halls of these historic downtown buildings. They are most definitely COVID-free!
